TOGU CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATORSHIP
The coordinatorship was established to contribute to ensuring ecological, economic and social sustainability at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and to make TOGU campuses in accordance with sustainable environmental principles by aiming to increase the awareness of our students and staff about sustainability.
Within the scope of national and international development policies, strategies and goals, the Campus Sustainability Coordinatorship develops strategies and actions concerning green areas, natural environment, waste, energy, water, transportation, accessibility, smart campus and digital applications and sustainable behaviors at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and coordinates all processes related to the implementation of these actions.
Objectives of TOGU Campus Sustainability Coordinatorship:
- To prepare action plans by determining strategies on environment, green areas, energy, water, waste management, transportation, accessibility and education in line with the University's sustainability policy,
- To guide the University's internal and external stakeholders on ecological, economic and social sustainability issues and to increase corporate sustainability competence,
- To carry out activities to increase individual, social and corporate sustainability awareness,
- To increase the widespread impact of activities and to create institutional infrastructure in the field of sustainability,
- To contribute to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in local and corporate development efforts and to support scientific studies and R&D activities based on sustainability.
TOGU Campus Sustainability Coordinatorship's Scope of Activity:
- To follow new approaches in the fields of ecological, social and economic sustainability and to prepare, update and contribute to the implementation of action plans and strategies in line with the sustainability goals of the university based on these three basic components,
- To cooperate with academic units, administrative units, coordinatorships and student communities working in line with sustainable development goals at the university,
- To carry out joint studies in order to ensure that the goals and activities of all academic and administrative units of the university are in line with university sustainability strategies,
- To work on improving the performance of the university in national and international university ranking indicators related to sustainability,
- To carry out studies in cooperation with the relevant units in order to increase the visibility and recognition of sustainable corporate identity,
- To organize social and academic activities such as congresses, symposiums, seminars and art events that will raise awareness about the fields of activity of the coordinatorship and to provide training on sustainability issues,
-Within the scope of the sustainability approach at the university, to carry out studies to achieve the corporate policies and strategic goals determined in the fields of energy management, increasing renewable energy resources, waste management, water management together with all academic and administrative units and related coordinatorships,
-To carry out awareness-raising activities on social contribution such as: social justice, human rights, equality, quality education, hunger and poverty alleviation together with the relevant coordinatorship.
- To organize activities and cooperate with the relevant coordinatorships to develop responsible consumption awareness, awareness activities to ensure savings in the use of natural resources, to instill recycling awareness, to encourage the use of low-emission vehicles and to promote the use of bicycles
- To organize activities to protect and increase biodiversity with the understanding of green campus approach and to contribute to practices that will increase the quality and quantity of green areas on campus in cooperation with the authorized administrative unit.
